On the Side

Here are a couple projects I've been working on...on the side.

Divvi - A Retro-Inspired Financial App

This is a proposal for a new financial app that is inspired by the Ration Books used during WWII to cope with shortages of provisions like meat, eggs, and sugar. I created the name, branding, UX and visual design concepts.

Divvi is a modern digital bank infused with the design sensibility and can-do spirit of yesteryear. This is a design for the desktop home page:

These are UX and visual designs for the mobile app. Users can get a visual overview of their monthly budget a glance. They can easily track where there money is going and if they are staying true to their financial goals.

Something I feel is lacking in current banking apps is the ability to see my monthly bills (even the unpaid ones) so I know how much I *really* have left to spend for the month.

This view is inspired by the stamps for various products tracked in Ration Books. I see my monthly allotment (i.e., budget) so I know where all my money is going at a glance.

These are custom financial goals. The user can track their progress on their goals to stay inspired.

Users can upload a photo of their goal--a vacation, a car, a piece of art. This helps them keep inspired to stay on track.

Artsy - An Art Trip Planner

I created a Sketch + InVision + Lookback (awesome tool!) wireframe prototype of a new feature for Artsy, one of my favorite art apps.

The lack of an art show trip planner/notification system has plagued me for a long time so I finally decided to create a prototype. If Artsy doesn't add this feature, I guess I will have to create it myself!

Here are a few of the wireframes. The heart of the design is the calendar feature which shows you when the most of your favorited and/or recommended art shows will occur on the same days so that you can maximize your travel plans to see as much art as possible. More stripes = more art shows on the same day.

Here's how the sausage gets made: early brainstorming notes and sketches on paper.
